Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov wants firmer control over market pricing, the Altyn Asyr television channel quoted him as saying during a tour of the nation's capital. The president made the statement while discussing plans to build a large hypermarket in the city.
The hypermarket would have a total area of more than 100,000 square meters, and include a cinema, playgrounds, sports facilities, fitness centers, restaurants, and cafes.
Berdimuhammedov said that he has decided to approve the project and added that a tender must be held to construct the facility within two years.
He also stressed the need to systematically develop social infrastructure.
Berdimuhammedov noted "the importance of further developing trade and services."
