The State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan adopted a new standard AZS 439 - 2010 "Caramel. General technical requirements", the State Committee said.
This standard applies to the syrup of sugar starch or caramel mass with 1.5-4 per cent humidity, made from a mixture of invert syrup and the sugar confectionery - caramel in retail markets. The introduction of the new standard is mandatory for all businesses regardless of their form of ownership.
The normative document contains information on the form, technical requirements for product manufacture, physico-chemical, microbiological indicators, labeling conditions, test methods, as well as information on the conditions of transport and storage of the product.
Keeping time of caramel is determined depending on the kind of the product from 15 days to nine months.
