Malta, Azerbaijan intend to expand cooperation

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy held the Azerbaijan Country Presentation in Valletta, Malta June 8, the ministry reported.

The event was attended by representatives of over 20 companies operating in Malta, including Malta's Commerce and Industry Chamber Chairman Helga Ellul, Managing Director, Kevin Borg and Malta's Business Agency Manager Mark Pizzuto.

The two countries did not fully exploit the potential of cooperation in spheres such as energy, tourism, agriculture and textile industry, Ellul said. She also stressed the importance of relations in these areas and encouraged the Maltese companies to intensify activities to enter the Azerbaijani market.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy and Malta Emil Karimov spoke about the successful economic policy pursued in Azerbaijan, and about the prospects of cooperation between Malta and Azerbaijan.

The presentation noted that  Azerbaijan has retained a leading position in terms of economic development under existing conditions of an acceptable business climate to attract foreign investment in Azerbaijan's economy and the impact of economic crisis in the region and carried out reforms in various sectors of the economy.
