Baltika Company occupies 73 percent of the Azerbaijani beer market, which accounts for 98 percent of beer sales in the Azerbaijani shopping centers, Company President Anton Artemiev said at the news conference on the 20th anniversary of Baltika in St. Petersburg today.

"We are the leader in the Azerbaijani beer market and further intend to expand our presence in Azerbaijan through the introduction of new brands of the product line" Baltika"," Artemiev said.

Baltika Company finished purchasing the brewery in Azerbaijan in August, 2008. As a result, Baltika became full owner of to 90 percent in Baku-Kastel brewery. 

Baltika-Baku brewery has increased capacity to 10 million decalitres per annum and launched export to neighboring countries. The plant produces brands starting with Baltika No.3, Baltika No.5, Baltika No.7, Baltika Kuler, as well as Arsenalnoye brand.

In 2009, Baltika had a major reconstruction in the Azerbaijani production platform. Total investments at the end of the investment program were approximately $ 20 million. The Baltika-Baku plant considers Turkmenistan as the possible export direction.

The company's plants are located in 10 cities of Russia. The company also develops licensed production abroad, and today the company's plants' total capacity is 52 million decalitres beer per month. Baltika Beer is produced under license in Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Britain and Australia.

The company has invested 59 billion rubles over 20 years of its development, Artemiev said. The company holds 40.6 percent of the Russian beer market and is the industry leader.

The company succeeded in entering the markets of more than 60 countries for 10 years the export activity. The company expanded the geography of sales and established product delivery to13 states only in 2009 and first quarter of 2010. The sales of the company's brands abroad exceeded 270 million liters of beer in 2009.

Sales of the company's brands in the CIS countries account for about 90 percent of total sales abroad. In 2009, the volume of the company's supply to the Middle East totaled about 2.4 million liters, Europe - 86 million liters, Africa - 2.2 million liters, Asia-Pacific countries - about 4 million liters, and Latin America - 0.3 million liters and North America - more than 1.5 million liters.

Baltika Company has more than 30 brands of beer and 11 - non-beer. The company produces over 70 varieties of beer in total.

Baltika Breweries was founded in St. Petersburg in 1990. In April 2008, "Baltika" entered the international group Carlsberg, which owns 88.86 percent of the share capital of the company. Today, Baltika is a public company and employs about 3,000 shareholders - physical and legal entities.
