Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has allocated $1 million in financial support for regional cooperation between Turkey and Syria. IDB and Turkey signed the relevant agreement under the strategic partnership forum in Baku today.

The agreement was undersigned by IDB President Ahmad Muhammad Ali and Manager from Turkey Khalid Ibrahim Canakci.

"This is a very successful experience of cooperation that will facilitate movement between the two countries without visas. We all must work to achieve a similar experience among all the other IDB countries," Muhammad Ali said.

The regional cooperation between Turkey and Syria improves thanks to projects in the program, which began in 2006 in cooperation between the State Planning Organization of Turkey and Syria.

The first phase of the project was implemented from 2006 to 2009, and the second phase was launched in 2009 and will last until 2012. The total cost of the program is $ 20 million, which is equally invested by Turkey and Syria.
