Turkmenistan, Iran activate projects on interstate transport corridors

Turkmenistan and Iran have decided to intensify the construction of interstate transportation corridors - railroads and highway, the Altyn Asyr television channel reported.

It was decided at the meeting of President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

In an interview with local media Mottaki noted that during the meeting they discussed issues related with the acceleration of the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran, which can become "economically and popular route between Europe and Asia."

"Iran's leadership as a manifestation of good friendly relations, assessed the voiced order  ... to intensify work on the reconstruction of the interstate highways Ashgabat-Badjigiran," Motakki said.

"Turkmenistan has always sees a good neighbor and a reliable partner in Iran," Berdimuhammedov said. The parties stated their mutual interest in building the Turkmen-Iranian dialogue meeting the mutual national interests.

"Turkmenistan and Iran have accumulated vast experience of fruitful cooperation reinforced by the successful implementation of several large-scale collaborative projects designed to serve to the welfare and prosperity of not only the two peoples, but also the entire region," Berdimuhammedov said.
