Azerbaijan, Baku, June 25 / Trend, U. Ismayilova /
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism last week monitored the quality of activity of the northern tourist facilities, the Minister Abulfaz Garayev said during GUAM member-countries' the 5th session at the level leaders in the tourism sphere in Baku.
According to the minister, last week the monitoring were conducted in Guba and Khachmaz regions of the country, as a result of which some negative facts were revealed and the local executive powers were instructed to eliminate them.
"Despite this, we can say that domestic tourism this year began to develop normally, some infrastructure projects are completed, flow of tourists has increased compared to 2009," Garayev said.
Garayev also noted that in some regional tourist attractions decrease in prices.
He also noted that decrease in prices is observed in some regional tourist facilities.
"As the number of tourist facilities increased, competition in prices in the market will decline," he said.
Minister considers inappropriate the comparison of prices for the tourism services in Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as they are two different markets.
"Turkey can receive millions of tourists. But the current limitations on tourist accommodation in Azerbaijan do not give the opportunity to provide services at the level of Turkey. The tourism sphere in Turkey is developing rapidly and Azerbaijan will need 15-20 years more to achieve this level," the minister said.
