WAIPA's 15th World Investment Conference took place in Buenos-Aires, Argentina June 28, 29 2010. The Conference brought together the public and private sector representatives, CEOs of World's Investment Promotion Agencies, as well as members of the academia and civil society. Azerbaijan was represented by the AZPROMO head Adil Mammadov at the conference.
During the conference AZRPOMO was elected as one of the 11 regional offices of WAIPA for South Caucasus and Central Asia.
The WIC 2010 focused on the challenges raised by the current economic recovery, particularly the development of investments that can make growth sustainable. The event represented a unique opportunity for participants to network with different global investment players at a senior level.
Moreover, valuable analyses were provided by a wide range of prominent speakers, including prestigious academics business leaders, government officials and senior officers from international organizations. Speaking at the conference, AZPROMO head Adil Mammadov presented the investment climate and business opportunities in Azerbaijan.
WAIPA was established in 1995 in Geneva and has 245 members from 161 countries. The board of directors represented 11 countries, including Brazil, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Slovenia, Mexico, Argentina, UAE, China, and Cameroon. Azerbaijan is the only representative from the South Caucasus and Central Asia, elected to the WAIPA Board of Directors.
The main purpose of WAIPA is to increase cooperation between the investment promotion agencies, exchange information in the sphere of attracting investment and support member organizations in shaping the strategy for investment promotion.
