Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov said entrepreneurs must be freed from unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles at a recent governmental meeting.
"We need to maintain consistent work to support individual entrepreneurs," Berdimuhammedov said.
Turkmenistan is in the stage of transition from a planned to a market economy, he said, adding that this point is clearly indicated in the updated Constitution.
The country began monetary reforms and denomination in 2009. Exchange rates were unified. Accounting and statistical records were also transferred to international standards.
In accordance with Turkmenistan's long-term socioeconomic development plans, the private sector's share in the country's GDP should rise from the current 40 to 70 percent by 2020.
