Azerbaijan, Germany have potential to increase trade turnover by 40 percent in 2010

According to optimistic forecasts, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany in 2010 can increase by 30-40 percent, exceeding $2 billion, the head of the department of economic cooperation with CIS countries at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology of Germany Andreas Neuman, who is on visit to Baku, said on July 19.

"These projections are based on increasing of purchasing capacity in Azerbaijan, we have proposals on modernization and hope that partnership relations will be established as a result of today's business forum, said Neuman. - Although we know that Azerbaijan receives proposals from other countries, but we know our strengths and weaknesses, over which we work today."

Within the current visit, the German companies make proposals to supply equipment for the oil and gas sector. Today, Germany is a leader in energy efficiency, as well as on renewable energy sources, in connection with which German firms also make concrete proposals.

"Azerbaijan's economy also has spheres, for example agriculture, which require modernization. Representatives of German companies offer their equipment for a better organization of labor in agriculture," said Neuman.
