Road Western Europe-Western China constructed in Kazakhstan

Construction work of Western Europe - Western China road in the Qyzylorda region of Kazakhstan is underway, the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications said.

According to the ministry, the upper layer of fertile soil was removed at 336 km. Bypass roads totaling 107 km were laid. About 4,229,000 cubic meters of roadbed and 32 culverts were laid. Road construction materials were prepared. In particular, about 810,000 tons of sand and gravel and 691,000 tons of rubble were prepared.

"Since the beginning of the project, a number of new productions have been established. It is a stone plant in the field Shalkiya, a bitumen plant, the ministry said.

About 8 of 20 production lines for the production of asphalt operate today. Production of these lines are used in laying the top layer of highly porous asphalt base. Today, about 35,5 km have been laid.

In general, according to the press service, four general contractors are working in the region. These are JSC "Salina", JV "Accord / Okan", JSC "Impreza" and JSC "Todina". They attracted more than 20 Kazakh and joint road companies to the construction.

According to the schedule of work, it is planned to open traffic on the 150 km of the lower layer of asphalt concrete pavement in 2010.

Transit corridor has length of 817 km in Qyzylorda region, of which 242 km is planned to be included in I technical category, and 575 km - in the technical category II.

It was reported that the length of the Kazakh plot of the transcontinental corridor "Western Europe - Western China" is 2,787 km. About 2,452 km will be reconstructed. The Republican Budget Commission determined the mechanisms and sources of financing the project.

Thus, about 422 billion tenge loans from international financial institutions will be spent on the reconstruction of 1,644 km. About 510 km will be reconstructed at the expense of private investment on a concession basis to the amount of 267 billion tenge. About 136 bln tenge of the national budget will be spent on repairing 298 km.
