Azerbaijani Royal Bank intends to join American Express in 2011, Royal Bank Board Chairman Samir Akbarov said.
"Joining to American Express is on the agenda, according to the plans it is expected in mid-2011", Akbarov said.
He said the bank has already held preliminary familiarization with the system and the necessary talks, but concrete decision has not been taken yet.
Today, Royal Bank has issued 21,000 plastic cards. Business - the Bank's plan aims at increasing their numbers to 200,00-300,000 units in the next 2-3 years.
RoyalBank was established Aug.2, 1993 as a joint commercial bank "OZ Bank". Subsequently, the Bank's name was changed and now it is called RoyalBank.
American Express (AmeEx) is a global Financial Services Company, based in New York. The well-known products of the Company are credit cards, account cards and travelers checks.
