GDP growth hits 4 percent in Turkmenistan

According to the results for January-July 2010, there was a dynamic growth of GDP, which increased by 4 percent, official Turkmen source said.

These figures were mentioned at the last governmental meeting. One can state the oil and gas industry impacts less on the growth rate of the national economy.

Turkmenistan holds a key position in the region for supplies of natural gas. Russia, China, Iran are importers. At the same time, the Caspian littoral country diversifies its economy. Oil and gas processing industry, textile, tourism are developed in the country.

During the reporting period, GDP in the construction sector amounted to 161.4 percent, transport and communications - 128 percent, trade - 114 percent, services - 106,5 percent, agriculture - 108.1 percent.

The increase in assimilated investments by 40 percent from all sources of funding is observed.
