Iran Air, Turkish Airline to form consortium

The chairman of Iran's flag carrier, Iran Air, said that Iran and Turkey will form a joint aviation consortium in the near future.

Farhad Parvaresh stated that initial talks have been held with Turkish Airline, and it is necessary to include other neighboring countries in the consortium as well, IRINN reported.

Last month Turkish Airline officials visited Iran and held talks with Iran Air chairman in order to expand relations between the two countries' national airlines.

Parvaresh also visited Turkey in July and followed up on negotiations with Turkish Airline officials.

Iran Air, or Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is the flag carrier airline of Iran, operating services to 60 destinations, 35 international and 25 domestic. The cargo fleet operates services to 20 scheduled and 5 charter destinations.

Turkish Airlines is the national airline of Turkey. It operates scheduled services to 127 international and 34 domestic cities (37 domestic airports), serving a total of 164 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
