Demand for Georgian frog meat increased in Europe

Georgia intends to increase export of frog meat to the European Union. Georgian Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli said that frog meat from Georgia will be exported not only to France but also other EU countries.

He said that the demand for Georgian frog meat increases in Europe. The Georgian Statistics Committee said that about 60 kilograms of production worth $ 497.3 were exported from Georgia in January-June 2010. The export hit 96 kilograms worth $791 in 2009. Live frogs are also exported from Georgia. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Georgia exported 250,500 live frogs, which amounted to 4,175 kilograms, last year.

"The demand for frog meat is high not only in France but also in all the countries of Western Europe, as well as in the U.S. and South America," Kvezereli said.
