CBA increases amount of liquid instruments in circulation in 3.2 times

The balance on operations of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan has increased from 1,454 million manat at the beginning of 2010 to 1.5748 billion manat as a result of the first half of 2010, said in a review of monetary policy in the first half-year, released by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The balance on operations of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan has increased from 1,454 million manat at the beginning of 2010 to 1.5748 billion manat as a result of the first half of 2010, said in a review of monetary policy in the first half-year, released by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

In the first half-year the CBA held 25 auctions for the placement of notes. The total amount of issue of notes, passing the state registration amounted to 132 million manat, 111 million manat of which were removed from circulation, while the remaining part was used as framework instruments of the CBA.

During the reporting period notes worth 108.6 million manat have been placed at the auctions and outside the auctions. The amount of requests from banks for auction totaled 622.57 million manat. Since early 2010 the average profitability on the notes is determined at the level of one percent per annum.

Amount of notes, which are in circulation since early 2010, increased by 18 million manat or 3.2 times and amounted to 26 million manat at the end of the period. In the first half-year the amount of transactions on the framework instruments was 343.05 million manat.
