Interim meeting on KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) project 'Feasibility study and detailed design for upgrading water intake structure at northern rivers and improvement of Absheron main canal for irrigation' was held August 10, 2010.

Interim meeting on KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) project 'Feasibility study and detailed design for upgrading water intake structure at northern rivers and improvement of Absheron main canal for irrigation' was held on August 10, 2010 in the Government House (Amelioration and Water Farm Joint Stock Company).

Korea Engineering Consultants Corporation (KECC) as an implementing company of the KOICA project presented the Result of the Feasibility Study to Azerbaijani side. In the meeting, there was also discussion session and Azerbaijani Experts mentioned their comments and suggestions about the Report of the Feasibility Study.

The project site is the basin of Kusari river's intake structures (6ea) and Absheron main canal (73km) and the project budget is 3.4 million USD during 2 years (2009-2010).

The activities of the project are;

Studying an optimized methodology of irrigation for Azerbaijan(F/S)

Performing the detailed design of intake structures at northern rivers and Absheron main canal

Training program for Azerbaijan officials and specialists

Providing necessary electronic equipment (computer and printer, etc.)

KOICA aims at strengthening partnerships and promoting mutual exchanges with developing countries, assisting their economic and social development, and thereby fostering international development cooperation.

KECC, in cooperation with KOICA, has been implementing overseas projects for feasibility study & detailed design of irrigation system by sharing experience with and offering collateral education program to the countries that lack an irrigation system.
