Georgia, Tbilisi, Aug.19 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /
The Georgian National Bank's Monetary Policy Committee has kept its monetary policy interest rates unchanged at 6.5 percent. According to the bank, the decision was made on the basis of the country's major financial and economic indicators.
The inflation rate in July was seven percent, the bank reported, adding that the indicator increases seasonally. The rate will return to the baseline forecast of six percent later this year.
The bank also noted increased money transfers to Georgia from abroad, as well as increased tourism export revenues.
Prices on grains and sugar increased last month, but have stabilized over the past two weeks.
The bank's next monetary policy meeting will be held Sept.15.
