Loans made by Georgian commercial banks increase by 1.1 percent

Loans made by commercial banks increased by 1.1 percent to 5.7 billion lari as of Aug.1 compared to the previous month and reached 5.8 billions lari. Loans provided in national currency increased by 1.0 percent, that is 71 million lari, in foreign currency – 1.1 percent, that is 47.5 million lari, the Georgian National Bank reported.

Loans made by commercial banks increased by 1.1 percent to 5.7 billion lari as of Aug.1 compared to the previous month and reached 5.8 billions lari. Loans provided in national currency increased by 1.0 percent, that is 71 million lari, in foreign currency - 1.1 percent, that is 47.5 million lari, the Georgian National Bank reported.

In late July, commercial banks issued resident legal entities 665.9 million lari in national currency and 2.7 billion lari worth of loans in foreign currency.

The share of loans provided to the trade constituted 48.3 percent of all loans to legal entities. Amount of loans to this sphere increased by 1.6 percent, that is 26.4 million lari, and exceeded 1.96 billion lari .

The share of loans provided to the industry comprising 21.2 percent of all loans to legal entities and amounted to 707.0 billion lari. Some 11.1 percent falls to construction, which is 369.3 million lari. Hence, 80.6 percent of total amount of loans falls to those three spheres.

In July, amount of loans to individuals increased by 1.7 percent, that is 36.2 million lari, and as of Aug.1, it exceeded 2.2 billion.
