Kazakhstan increases prices for food

Prices for foodstuffs increased by 5,8 percent in Kazakhstan in August compared to August last year, the State Statistics Agency said.

According to the agency, prices for sugar increased by 23.3 percent, coffee, tea and cocoa - 13 percent, confectionery - 8,5, oils and fats - 8,3 percent, dairy products - 7,2 percent, alcoholic drinks - 5,3 percent, bakery and pastry products - 4,5 percent, fruits and vegetables - 1.1 percent during the period compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

The State Statistics Agency reported that prices reduced for flour at 17.5 percent, cereals - 3,5, bread - 1,8, pasta - 1.6 percent.

Prices for meat and meat products for the period increased by 10,3 percent. Prices for pork increased by 9 percent, sausages - 7.9 percent, mutton - 7,5, poultry - 5,2, horse-flesh - by 3,8 percent.
