Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept.7 / Trend, E.Ismayilov /

Passengers affected by the derailment of a cargo train in Dagestan after an explosion Tuesday on the Kizlar-Karabagli line are being transferred from the Baku-Moscow train to the Baku-St. Petersburg train in an effort to help them reach their destinations, CJSC Azerbaijan Railways said today.

"St. Petersburg-Baku passengers will be transferred to the Baku-Moscow train, which will return to Baku. In turn, the Baku-Moscow passengers will be transferred to the St. Petersburg-Baku train which will then divert to the Russian capital," an Azerbaijan Railways source said.

According to the source, the Baku-Tumen train was delayed on the border between Azerbaijan and Russia after arriving at 11p.m. local time on Monday.

"By now, I think the problem will be solved and movement [on the line] will be restored" the source said.

Terror attacks and bombings in Dagestan have become frequent in days, affecting train schedules and leading to fear among people using this mode of transport.
