The European Union and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan (MLSPP) are launching a project to support the country's efforts toreform the social security and social protection systems. The €700,000 project will be implemented by the French Agency for the Development and Co-ordination of International Relations (ADECRI).
The 18 month-long initiative envisages assistance to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, and other relevant public entities, in enhancing their capacity in data analysis, forecasting, monitoring, evaluation, social budgeting and strategic planning. The twinning project will help increase the level of cooperation between European and Azerbaijani administrations in the area of social protection.
The EU Twinning Programme is an instrument for targeted cooperation aimed at assisting neighbouring countries of the EU to strengthen their administrative and legal capacity to approximate and implement EU legislations. In practice, the tool serves to establishing strong and results-oriented relationships between similar governmental institutions in the EU 27 member states and the beneficiary country, stimulating training and direct exchange of experience between officials performing similar tasks. These are the reasons for its success in Azerbaijan.
