Baku hosted presentation of twinning project implemented by the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry, the EU representative office in Azerbaijan and the Agency for development and coordination of international relations of France (ADECRI).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Labor and Social Protection Minister Ilgar Rahimov said that the main objective of this project is to increase the capacity of the Ministry in the actuarial calculations, analysis of information, forecasting, monitoring, evaluation, preparation of the social budget and strategic planning.

French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gabriel Keller stressed the importance of opening of the Twining project both for France and for the improvement of social sphere in Azerbaijan.

Twining Project Director and Head of 'Finance and Contracts' Department of the EU representation in Azerbaijan Stefan Stork reported that the cost of the project is 700,000 euros.

EU Twinning Program is a tool for targeted cooperation aimed at assisting to EU's neighbors to strengthen their administrative and legal capacity for approximation and implementation of EU legislation, the EU representation in Azerbaijan reported.

In practice, this tool serves to create a strong and the results based on a similar relationship between state agencies of the 27 EU Member States and beneficiary countries, promote learning and direct exchange of experience among the officials who perform similar tasks.

Technical assistance is estimated at 18 months.
