State Social Protection Fund head: Foreign football players and coaches in Azerbaijan do not pay social fees

Azerbaijan, Baku, September 30 / Trend A. Akhundov /

The foreigners, getting income in the territory of Azerbaijan, must make contributions for compulsory social insurance, Salim Muslimov, chairman of the State Social Protection Fund, told media.

"Today, we still have a problem with foreigners working in Azerbaijan. According to the law, foreigners, who get income in the territory of Azerbaijan, have to pay social insurance," Muslimov said.

He said that foreign football players and coaches in Azerbaijan do not pay social insurance contributions.

For example, look how many legionaries play in the Azerbaijani Football Championship. None of them pays social fees. There are football coaches who earn millions here. None of them pays taxes because they ae not registered with the State Social Protection Fund ", Muslimov said.

However, today over 8,300 foreigners are registered and pay taxes.

"The number of foreign migrants in Azerbaijan is increasing. Their involvement in the payment of social fees is very important," Muslimov said.

He said that the issue must be resolved by the State Social Protection Fund and relevant bodies.
