The total cost of building 90 bridges on the main highways connecting all the regions of Turkmenistan will exceed $287 million, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper has reported.

The bridges are being built on the highways between Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi, Ashgabat and Mary, Turkmenabat and Farabi, and on the Ashgabat-Karakum-Dashoguz highway.

"This is one of the best examples illustrating how large-scale investments are made in the country to develop transport infrastructure," the report says, which notes that the new facilities meet modern requirements taking into account the speed of modern highways and road safety.

The width of the carriageway is 12 and a half meters in each direction which are fenced off from each other with special metal barriers. The bridges will be equipped with convenient pedestrian crossings and modern lighting systems.

"The new bridges are designed for decades of reliable trouble-free operation. They will be deployed across large and small rivers," the report says.
