For the third time in less than one month, French trade unions expect to see more than a million people take to the streets Saturday to protest against President Nicolas Sarkozy's pension reform, reported dpa.

If it becomes law, the reform - which has already passed the National Assembly - will raise the age of retirement from 60 to 62 by the year 2018.

Unions have announced demonstrations in more than 225 cities throughout the country for Saturday, with the largest protest march scheduled for Paris.

According to union figures, some 3 million people took part in the last protest day, on September 23. Police counted about a million protestors.

Unions have scheduled another day of protests and nationwide strikes for October 12. The pension reform is scheduled to come before the Senate on Tuesday, and is expected to become law by the end of the month.
