Georgian Parliament starts reviewing draft budget

From today, the Georgian Parliament starts consideration of the draft public budget 2011. The draft of the country’s main financial document was submitted to the Parliament Sept. 30. MPs will agree on a timetable of its consideration at the meeting of the Bureau’s meeting, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

From today, the Georgian Parliament starts consideration of the draft of the public budget for 2011. The draft of the country's main financial document was submitted to the Parliament Sept. 30. MPs will agree on a timetable of its consideration at the meeting of the Bureau's meeting, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

According to the draft, the budget will reach about 7 billion lari ($ 1 = 1.81 lari). The budget deficit dropped from 6 to 4.5 percent. Economic growth indicator is estimated at 5.5 percent.

According to the Parliamentary Secretary to the Government George Khuroshvili, the draft reflects all the parameters necessary for its consideration at the first hearing. Regarding the health and social sphere, their financing will be make more concrete later.

According to the regulations of Parliament, the Government must submit a draft of public budget to Parliament no later than Oct. 1. After this a timetable for its consideration must be set. The draft again will return to the Government to review the comments of MPs no later than Oct. 22. Adjusted draft must be submitted the highest legislative body no later than Nov. 5.

The final version will be approved by Parliament not later than the third Friday of December.
