The new Tax Code entered into force in Turkmenistan, the local media reported today.
The document reflects the list of activities on which VAT is not payable. These are a city passenger transport service (except taxi, including minibus); health services; services of dental prosthesis (cosmetic services of non-treatment nature are not exempted from VAT); services of care for sick, disabled and elderly; services in education system and other services.
The Code also noted that several institutions, including investment pension funds, organizations engaged in rehabilitation of disabled persons, educational institutions, enterprises of public organizations of disabled persons, religious institutions, agricultural enterprises, as well as legal persons-residents of Turkmenistan or legal persons, non-residents of Turkmenistan providing circus services, international, intergovernmental and inter-state organizations, except for income received by them from the business activities, are exempted from income tax.
