Ernst & Young's Baku office and Azerbaijan State Economic University (ASEU) has commenced the fifth year of its intermediate accounting course for the ASEU Special Talented Group, the company said.
This program was launched in 2006 with support from the American Chamber of Commerce and is a unique opportunity for students to master technically difficult accounting concepts.
Ernst & Young course instructor Nigar Aliyeva is very excited about the course. She said that it is my second year at ASEU, and I am very pleased with the outcome of last year's program. A number of last year's graduates have joined Big Four audit firms as well as other leading Azerbaijani and international companies. The students are very committed, smart and talented indeed!
"This program is designed to provide talented students with a unique opportunity to obtain strong accounting knowledge, which is currently in high demand in our country in light of the government's program to transition to international financial reporting standards," Turgay Teymurov, Ernst & Young partner in charge of the program, said.
Ilgar Veliyev, Managing Partner of Ernst & Young's Baku practice, said that the program exemplifies the company's recognition of its social responsibility as well as its support for the introduction of International Standards on Auditing in close cooperation with the Chamber of Auditors of the Azerbaijan Republic.
