Azerbaijan's central credit registry receives more appeals

The Central Credit Registry (CCR) under the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) received 172,105 appeals from the country's banks in the first three quarters of this year, the agency reported. Of the total 145,882 complaints related to new borrowers.

The total number of appeals increased by 3.88 times compared to the same period of 2009. Over three quarters of 2009, the total number of requests amounted to 44 365. During the report period, 217 persons applied to the CCR to obtain their own credit reports.

As of Oct. 1, the number of borrowers, on whom the registry has data, amounted to 884,970 and the total number of credit information - 1,743,647, which exceeds the corresponding figures for 2009 by 25.7 and 31.8 percent respectively.

In 2009, the registry collected data on 387,818 sureties.

The CCR has begun operating since March 2005. Tariff for one request is 1.1 manat for an individual and 2 manat - for a legal person. The credit registry does not pursue commercial goals and tariffs imposed to cover administrative costs.

The official exchange rate is 0.8021 manat to $1 Oct. 9.
