About 928,000 tons of cargo was transported by the JSC NC "Kazakh Railways" through Azerbaijan in eight months of 2010 compared to 113,000 tons in the same period of 2009, Kazakh Railways Vice President Yermek Kizatov said in Baku.
According to him, the volume involves goods destined for Azerbaijan, as well as for third countries.
Some of these cargo was transported to the Aktau port and then across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan. The remainder was transported bypassing the territory of Russia.
In January-August, 847,000 tons of grain cargoes was transported to Azerbaijan (and transit) from Kazakhstan compared to 45,000 tons in the same period of 2009
