According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, vehicles transported 33.453 million tons of cargo in January-September or 8.71 percent more than the same period in 2009, the state committee said. Exports of goods in this period amounted to 28.031 million tons, imports - 5.421 million tons.
Over 265,300 tons of cargo was exported by maritime transport, 2.54 million tons - by railway, 400,900 tons - by cars and 194.900 tons - by air. The transportation via pipelines totaled 24.625 million tons.
Over 552,300 tons were imported by maritime transport, 3.697 million tons - by railway, 1.14 million tons - by cars and 15,300 tons - by air.
Some 6.94 million tons of cargo was transited through the territory of Azerbaijan for nine months. It is 65.17 percent or 2.737 million tons more than the same period in 2009.
Over 2.414 million tons were transported through Azerbaijan to Bermuda islands, Italy - 1. 346 million tons, Switzerland - 1.27 million tons, Iran - 391,000 tons, Georgia - 391,000 tons, Tajikistan - 321.800 tons, Afghanistan - 297.800 tons, Russia - 148.700 tons, Turkmenistan - 140,300 tons, and Turkey - 109,600 tons.
