Ashgabat hosts the international investment forum on Oct.18-19, 2010. The event was organized by the Turkmen Commerce Chamber and the British IC ENERGY Limited.

President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov addressed the welcoming statement to participants of the International Investment Forum.

"The main goal ... is attracting investments in oil and gas and textile industry, construction and building materials, construction of tourist facilities, roads and airports, agriculture, health and medical industry of the country," the message reads.

About 300 delegates of the participant countries represent nearly 40 international and regional organizations, international financial institutions and major companies in the world. Representatives of the UN, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Finance Corporation, the Eurasian Economic Community, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Deutschebank attend the event. Foreign business is represented by numerous companies from USA, France, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Switzerland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, India, Malaysia, China, Japan, Republic of Korea and other countries.

Berdimuhammedov said Turkmenistan's advantageous geographical position on the crossroads of routes of the Eurasian continent, long-term political stability, high rates of national economic growth, strong financial resources - all these "causes the investment attractiveness of the country, guaranteeing security of investment with the legal framework developed in accordance with all aspects of foreign trade activities".

Adopting the Law of Turkmenistan "On Foreign investments" that sets forth the legal framework of the activity of the enterprises with foreign capital in the territory of the country considerably extended the opportunities of potential foreign partners to operate on the Turkmen market. Guaranteeing insurance protection, repatriation of capital, customs, tax and other benefits, this law actually encourages the investment activity of domestic and foreign entrepreneurs

The forum will focus on issues of partnerships in the implementation of the projects on the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, the development of oil and gas processing, chemical industries and construction of transport infrastructure.
