The Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry reported that no disease was found in the buffalo meat imported to the country from India. The ministry has completed the examinations on the product in the local market and did not reveal any problems, Deputy Minister Bahram Aliyev told journalists on Friday.

"All buffalo meat imported to the country from India has been examined and no diseases were detected," Aliyev said. "However, the ban on imports of buffalo meat in the country is yet in force."

He said the ministry's staff will study the conditions of slaughter of these animals in the cities of India from which the buffalo meat is imported to Azerbaijan.

"Now our major objective is to check places of slaughter of buffalo in those countries from which the buffalo meat is imported to Azerbaijan. We are working over obtaining visas to ensure that our vets are sent there. We work in collaboration with the Alania Company, through which the buffalo meat is mainly imported to Azerbaijan."
