The Kazakh state budget will allocate 10 billion tenge to the construction of the Uzen - the state border with Turkmenistan railway, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov said at a meeting of the Nur Otan parliamentary faction. He was presenting the draft state budget for 2011-2013.

"The railway project will provide our business with direct access to markets of the Persian Gulf and reduce transportation distance by 600 kilometers," Massimov said.

He said the budget allocated 10 billion tenge for this purpose.

"We need to win the Saudi market, where grain is in demand. The current routes, through which we export our products, kill competitive prices for the Kazakh goods," Masimov said.

"But this railway will allow the wagons from Aktau to Bandar Abbas to go straight to the Persian Gulf in 12 hours," he explained.

Construction of the Kazakh section of the Uzen - the state border with Turkmenistan railway is to complete in 2011.

In general, Kazakhstan is expected to allocate 345 billion tenge to the development of transport infrastructure in 2011.
