Azerbaijan's labor legislation is mainly violated by catering facilities

The State Labor Inspectorate of the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry revealed  7,043 violations since early 2010, Ministry Spokesman Elnur Kalantarli said at the news conference on results if the first three quarters of 2010.

The inspectorate raveled these violations during the inspection activities carried out on 2,250 enterprises, as well as management and organizations, to verify their compliance with the requirements of labor laws.

The violations occurred in the catering facilities (2,110 facts), industry (1,251), housing and communal services (594), science, education and culture (638) and construction (528).

During the report period, the inspectorate ensured the signing of employment contract with 3,083 individuals, who worked without contracts. The figure was 6,160 people in the same period of 2009. The inspectorate fined employers in the amount of 667,300 manat for administrative violations.

The inspectorate reviewed 2,024 complaints of citizens and ensured payment of debt worth about 6mln manat, and 52 people, who lost the job due to violation of law, were recovered at a former workplace.

The country recorded 166 accidents leaving 46 dead and 135 injured compared to 192 accidents (49 dead) in the same period of 2009.

The official exchange rate is 0.8011 manat to $1 Oct. 27.
