Turkmen president: Turkmenistan preserves low level of manat inflation

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov told employees of the bank on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the national currency that low inflation of Turkmen manat is the evidence of the rapid development of the country's economy.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov told employees of the bank on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the national currency that low inflation of Turkmen manat is the evidence of the rapid development of the country's economy.

The statement was delivered on November 1 via all national TV channels.

"The current steady growth of GDP, the expansion of foreign trade turnover, price stability in the domestic market for goods and services, low inflation, national manat are the evidence of the rapid development of our economy," the message said.

The President said that national manat became an important tool to ensure political freedom and economic independence.

Berdimuhammedov said that national Turkmen manat fulfilled its important mission to strengthen the foundations of state sovereignty of Turkmenistan, to fix the achieved economic progress and goals. 

The banking system has such tasks as to increase in lending amounts to the sectors of the economy, to transfer bank financial reports to international standards, to improve legislation base, to modernize interbank and international payment system, to expand the volume of cashless payments via bank cards, to develop mortgage lending, to introduce new banking products and to increase quality of services and the skills of bank employees.

"The banks' activity on lending in agriculture, oil and gas industry, textile and food industries, transport and communication system, creates a sound financial base to achieve high economic growth rates", a message said.

In early 2009, Turkmenistan held denomination of national currency. "Introducing a new manat is not limited by increasing confidence in the national currency and stabilizing its exchange rate towards foreign currencies. But it also ensured the growth of the prestige of the country in the world market and sustained growth of investments in the economy of Turkmenistan.
