Gardening and planting seedlings are a priority area of funding for the Azerbaijani National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support (NFES) operating under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry.

Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev made the statement in an interview with the AzTV television channel yesterday.

"Projects funded through the NFES have considerable importance for the economy and some of these projects have already been commissioned to spark various industries, such as refrigerator storage facilities and grain warehouses," he said.

According to the minister, all of these projects serve as an economic backbone for the country, as the refrigerator storage facilities, for example, give and impetus to production development.

"We believe enough refrigerator storage facilities were built across the country," he said. "Of course, we will continue to receive appeals from entrepreneurs and we will provide them with financing. But today the priority area for us is gardening and planting seedlings."

Mustafayev added that building the refrigerator storage facilities facilitated interest in the area, and gave farmers more opportunities in terms of storing their produced goods.

The NFES funded 1,016 projects worth $ 81.037 million manat over the first three quarters of 2010. The projects will help to create 3,799 new jobs.

The official exchange rate is 0.8003 manat to $3.
