Azerbaijani RoyalBank considers the possibility of attracting foreign shareholders to own processing system RoyalCard, created on the base of Compass Plus, Samir Akbarov, chairman of the bank board, said.
"The negotiations are underway. We expect to attract foreign investors in 2011, he said.
He said that the capacity of the processing system hits 1.5 million cards today.
Today, RoyalCard is fully owned by RoyalBank.
RoyalBank has already been certified to connect RoyalCard processing system to the international payment system VISA Int (VISA). The bank is also on the final stage of connection to the MasterCard Worldwide, JCB and CUP.
At present, the bank issued 35,700 plastic cards, of which 30,600 are active.
RoyalBank is a commercial bank operating in Azerbaijan. It has 32 branches in Baku and regions of the country. RoyalBank was established on August 1993 as a joint commercial bank "OZ Bank".
Today, Azerbaijan has four processing centers - Azericard, MilliKart, TexKart and KapitalBank.
EBRD joined MilliKart's shareholders.
