Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev chaired the meeting on the discussion of the perspective development plan of Baku Metro, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The head of state said important projects are being implemented for the development of infrastructure in Azerbaijan. Ilham Aliyev noted that the most modern bridges and overpasses are being built, new roads are opened, transport sector is successfully developing both in the capital and regions. Noting that large funds are allocated from the state budget for the development of the road infrastructure every year, Ilham Aliyev underlined that all the activities aim to ensure cozy and safe traffic. Speaking about the work done for modernization of the road infrastructure, elimination of traffic jam, the head of state said metro is of great importance as a means of transport. President Ilham Aliyev said metro makes up the important part of the city's transport and added that low fares of this means of transport contribute to solving social issues.
Chairman of Azertunelmetrotikinti OSC Shaig Efendiyev, chief of Baku Metro Tagi Ahmadov addressed the meeting. Discussions were held on the priority directions of the metro network and the activities to be carried out in this field. President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the perspective development schemes of Baku Metro and proposed directions of metro lines. The head of state noted the importance of implementing the development plan by determining priorities, gave recommendations concerning the future tasks.
