The 2011 Tbilisi draft budget received by the Tbilisi Sakrebulo is defined at 620.788 million lari ($ 1 = 1.76 lari). The figure is 123 million lari less than the 2010 budget.
According to Budget and Finance Committee Chairman Tamaz Shoshiashvili, the funding priority is health and social services, and housing and communal services development.
He added that the budget was reduced due to the completion of several important projects, and "this is not happening at the expense of any program."
In particular, the construction of the Varazis Khevi-Tamarashvili Highway has been completed and the 033 hotline has joined the rescue service, which led to the reduced budget.
The draft budget is still under consideration. It will later be approved at a Sakrebulo meeting.
The Sakrebulo is the representative body of the Tbilisi city government.
