The design of the Poti airport, which is currently being reconstructed, will be completed by April 2011. Construction will begin in May 2011.
A new airport meeting international standards will open in the near future in Poti.
Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia personally inspected the airport's navigation radar, which was built in the course of three months.
The radar monitors the movement of civil aircrafts over a radius of 350-400 kilometers. The data from the radar is transferred to a central control office in Tbilisi.
The personnel manning the radar are young Georgian engineers and technicians.
