Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 22 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry plans to fully put into operation a road interchange on Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, a ministry source told Trend today.

The construction of the road interchange is nearing completion, the source said.

"Construction is almost completed and it is expected to commission the road interchange in late 2010," the source said.

He added that plans also include putting into operation a major road interchange complex located near the Mashadi Azizbayov metro station in 2011.

"Work is expected to be completed in 2011 and the interchange's opening is planned for the same year," the source said.

The road interchange includes nine bridges and 11 trails. Its total area is 3,600 linear meters. It also includes a pendant bridge with an area of 325 meters.

The source said work is underway on the creation of an underground pedestrian crossing on the road, which will begin on U. Hajibeyov Street and end at the seaside boulevard.

"Currently, work is underway to transfer communications," he said. "It is difficult to talk about timing, everything will depend on the work volume and progress."
