Iranian deputy minister: Trade turnover between Iran and Islamic countries hits $50 billion

Trade turnover between Iran and the Islamic countries is $50 billion, Iranian Deputy Minister of Trade Babak Afgehi said during his speech at the Second International Economic Conference of Islamic countries.

"In 1997, trade between Iran and the Islamic countries was $2.5 billion and in 2009 the foreign trade operations, increasing by 12 times, reached about $30 billion", he said.

He said that the basic strategy of the Iranian government is the development of trade and economic relations with Islamic countries.

"Despite the global economic crisis, the current economic growth in South-East Asia and developing countries contributes to economic recovery and growth throughout the world," he said.
