Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan to hold joint meeting in Baku

The second meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation scheduled for Nov. 25 in Baku, the Turkmen government reported.

The important vectors of cooperation was the implementation of joint projects in the priority sectors of science and technology, efficient use of natural resources of the Caspian Se and exchange of experiences in the protection of the environment, etc.

As previously reported, the two countries are interested in realization of a major project in the Caspian Sea - the construction of the underwater Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, which could be part of the Nabucco project, designed to diversify energy sources to Europe and allow the Caspian region to enter new markets.

The agenda of the intergovernmental meeting in Baku would focus on the prospects for cooperation in the trade and economic, transport and communications sectors and the spheres of education, science, tourism and sport.

The possibilities for training specialists of the State Sea and River Transport Service of Turkmenistan at the State Marine Academy of Azerbaijan, enhancing partnership in organization of international tourism exhibitions, seminars and workshops, advertising and information activity, establishing contacts in the sphere of sports and youth policy in the format of Turkmen-Azerbaijan youth forums, etc would be considered.
