Azerbaijani transport ministry to optimize routes in Baku

The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry plans to reduce the number of bus routes in Baku from 310 to 217 units, the ministry reported on Tuesday.
Reducing the number of routes will be implemented under the process of optimization, which involves the elimination and consolidation of routes repeating each other and replacement of low capacity buses on the buses with medium and high capacity.
The work on optimization of routes in Baku conducted in stages, first and foremost, replacing buses and the elimination of routes operating in the city center. As a result of the work 1,496 units of 3,300 buses with low capacity route was withdrawn, which were replaced by 1,130 and 674 bus medium and large capacity, respectively.
There JSC Azeryolservis, Baku State Traffic Police Department, Baku City Executive Authority and Baki Sernishin Negliyyati LTD. defined 664 bus stops within the establishment the intellectual transport management system in Baku.
So far, the Baku City Executive Authority established 375 bus stops and plans to install 289 more stops.
