Industrial production in Azerbaijan increased by 2.6 percent in 2010

In 2010, the industrial production [produced industrial goods and rendered services] in Azerbaijan totaled 27.4 billion manat, which is 2.6 percent more than in 2009, the State Statistics Committee said Thursday.

Private sector's share increased by 1.7 percent, amounting to 81.4 percent of total industrial production.

During the reported period, the volume of production of the extractive industry grew by 1.1 percent, amounting to 20.78 billion manat with special weight of 75.8 percent of total industrial production. The share of processing industry was 19.1 percent electricity, gas sector - 4.5 percent and the water sector - 0.6 percent.

The volume of oil produced by companies that are part of the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) for the period increased by 0.9 percent, reaching 50.8  million tons and natural gas - 16.7 billion cubic meters, with an increase of 2.1 percent.

The volume of production of processing industry amounted to 5.3 billion manat increasing by 9 percent. Food production increased during this period. The production of margarine grew by 30.2 percent - to 20,200  tons, meat - by 4 percent (246,600 tons), milk - 2.9 percent (365,300 tons), butter - 0.9 percent (20,900 tons), cheese and cottage cheese - 2 percent (43,300 tons), vegetable oil - 16 percent (43,200 tons).

Official exchange rate on Jan.19 is 0.7974 manat to $1.
