Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, who is on visit to Bahrain Feb. 9-10, has called upon the country's financial and industrial groups to invest in new and promising sectors, the Altin Asir television channel reported on Thursday.

The issue at hand concerns participation in the construction of the Avaza seaside resort on the Caspian seacoast and other large structures.

Given all of these possibilities, the Turkmen leader invited his Bahraini partners to hold a joint trade and investment forum and exhibition in Ashgabat in the near future.

"Turkmenistan is extremely interested in establishing long-term, equal and mutually beneficial relations with Bahrain," Berdimuhammedov said.

He said the presence of fuel, energy and refining capacity in both countries and their advantageous geographical position are a convenient platform for a mutual exchange of experience and using it effectively.

Turkmenistan and Bahrain also have greater opportunities in the transport sector. Turkmenistan implements large-scale international projects in this direction. In particular, construction of the North-South Railway is underway and projects are under realization in the field of road infrastructure.

The port of Turkmenbashi, which is equipped with modern technology, occupies a powerful place in the cargo transportation. Turkmenistan carries out large-scale work on the reconstruction of roads, bridges and engineering structures and their respective equipment.

Berdimuhammedov invited to start creating joint ventures in key industries, based on mutual investment.

"Regarding the investment projects, there are favorable conditions, including a reliable international legal framework in Turkmenistan," he said, adding that the country is implementing multilateral projects in other industries, such as metallurgy, textile and processing industries, tourism and recreation, and health resort areas.

Highlighting Bahrain's intense interest in the revitalization of a fruitful dialogue established with Turkmenistan, King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa expressed belief that "in the short term, impressive potential of Turkmen-Bahraini cooperation will receive a full-scale implementation that meets the mutual opportunities."
