The next meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation is scheduled for Feb.21-23 in Tashkent, an official Turkmen source said.
This issue was discussed at the governmental meeting during which the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdihummadov speaking about the importance of sustainable building of productive interaction with neighbor countries, including Uzbekistan, stressed "the importance attached to the work of intergovernmental commissions, proven as an effective mechanism of deepening and development of ties with partner states".
Two states are linked with a series of major projects, particularly a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was opened in December 2009. The sides are also considering the possibility of cooperation in the implementation of railway project, which would link Central Asia with the Persian Gulf countries.
