Azerbaijan hopes to attract Serbian companies and organizations to cooperate in order to maintain trade relations between the two countries, Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) President Adil Mammadov said on Friday during a meeting between Azerbaijani and Serbian businessmen in Baku.

"Over the past 15 years, more than $95 billion has been invested in Azerbaijan's economy, and most of it has been spent on developing the non-oil sector," Mammadov said.

The event is attended by about 40 Azerbaijani and Serbian businessmen representing such sectors as machine-building, logistics, agriculture, construction, food processing, tourism and energy.

"Our countries have friendly relations and we support the development of these relations and cooperation," Serbian-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce president Mirko Barach said.

The Serbian delegation includes a number of major investors who are interested in implementing joint projects with Azerbaijan.

In 2010, foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Serbia amounted to $1.78 million, with 99.8 percent falling to imports. Last year, goods worth $1.78 million were imported from Serbia.
